1950_crocker_cook_bookThe first Betty Crocker Cookbook that I remember was in my mothers kitchen in the mid 1950's.  That cookbook would be the source of many of my favorite meals and memories as a child.  As I grew to adulthood that 'rock of Gibraltar" of the cookbook world would follow me to my own families kitchen in the late 1960's.  Over the years copies of the Betty Crocker Picture Cookbook would be sold by the millions, and in many homes it was the only cookbook.  In the formative years of these practical books, cookbooks stayed in the kitchen, and didn't take up space with a well place position on a table to be seen and not used.  Today many of these vintage cookbooks are collectors items and some cooks who used them in their younger years, now buy them to clarify  a favorite recipe from their formative cooking years.  Many of these rare cookbooks can be found in online auctions.Betty Crocker Cookbooks and an occasional yard sale.
